New Year, New Resolutions, New Blog!

I guess the best way to kick things off is with MY story of why I am starting this blog in the first place. The Jewellery Stories blog is part of my new year’s resolution to change my life... dramatic statement, yes, I know.

It's not that my life is particularly bad; in fact it is very very good. I am the luckiest jeweller in the world! I have a fabulous husband, two beautiful pooches, a lovely little shack of my own and not one, but two thriving jewellery businesses. But somehow, even with all that goodness, 2011 was a hard year. I have struggled, at times, with anxiety and depression, my home and studio have become messy and out of control, I have not been on top of my workload or managed to reach my aims within my businesses, I have put on a few too many kilos for comfort and although I know how brilliant my life really is, I have found it difficult to maintain perspective at times.

So here we are- Jewellery Stories; a written commitment from this jeweller to maintain a healthy balance between personal and professional life, and most importantly, maintain that positive perspective of the things that are most important to me. Here I will write of the work that gives me so much joy. There is nothing quite like the satisfaction that comes from creating beautiful, high quality jewellery from scratch. Here I will write an account of the pieces I create, and even more importantly, the people I create them for. It is my clients that make my work worthwhile. I love being part of their special life events, from birthday gifts to wedding rings to the remodelling of something worn out, yet sentimental.

Goodbye to 2011, farewell to procrastination, sayonara to negativity. Bring on 2012! This is set to be a fabulous year; I have BIG plans, from exhibitions to markets. There are some very special engagement and wedding rings to make, and even a trip to Sri Lanka on the horizon. Along the way I hope to maintain a much more pleasant living and working environment and get my body and mind into a healthier and happier state. So WELCOME to Jewellery Stories, I look forward to having you along for my jewellery adventures.

Love from The Jeweller. xx
